Whamageddon 2021
« on: 28 November, 2021, 06:57:02 pm »
Play starts at 0000 hours on Dec 1.  You are out if you hear Wham!'s original rendition of Last Christmas anywhere and for however short a duration.  12" versions and remixes retain the lethality of the 7" single version.  Cover versions by other artists are safe.  The aim is to get to 0000 hours on Christmas Day without hearing it.

Post when you've been whammed.

Tip: most supermarkets have an autism hour with no music.

Should be another easy year on account of the pandemic, but there's always a risk of drive-by Whamming.

There's a joke vid doing the rounds of Boris outside no.10.  Do not open it.  It contains Wham!

I've still never knowingly heard the song. My pal Penelope sung it to me the other day, and neither the words nor the tune was familiar to me. Pen sings quite well, so it wasn't down to her rendition.

The sad part for her was that she was left with an intolerable earworm for the rest of the day whereas I just thought about Bach's Brandenburg Concerto number 4.

I just auto-whammed myself: wondered what, why & who the hell it was all about and so looked for it on YT.  Now I wish I hadn't.

I say, it does rather go round and round in one's head, doesn't it?

It's certainly not the best Xmas song, nor the best Wham! song.

HK turned on Radio 2 this morning (why would people do that?) and I was instantly out.

Because they're middle-aged and under the mistaken impression they're turning on Radio 1?

Given that Radio 2 appears to be the rest home for Radio 1's 1980s/early 90s DJs...  :demon:

I will be out next Thursday or Friday as my son's primary school wham us in the mornings at drop off.

I expect to remain safe until then, due to being exceedingly antisocial and Absolute Radio's "no Wham" policy.

Living dangerously atm.  The dog decided we should call into the pub during our evening walk.  So far so good.   I may risk another pint.

Good job I wasn't playing cos Tesco got me today. Got the whole bloody song too. (And then they followed it with "How looong has this been goooing on?" which isn't a bad song but does seem to constitute 30% of their playlist.)
