105 R7000 RD, medium vs short cage
« on: 12 July, 2023, 07:21:53 am »
Morning all, a quick question on the above.

Can anyone confirm the distance between the jockey wheel axles on the short vs medium cage variants?

I’m told mine is a short cage, the distance is about 75mm. But it ‘looks’ like a medium.

Thanks in advance

A

Edit: the jockey wheels are measured at 75mm apart, there are no other markings that I can see other than Shimano 105

Mine's a medium and the distance between the centre of the jockey wheels is closer to 90mm (can't get an accurate measurement right now, but it's definitely more than 75mm).

The derailleur markings should confirm, though - if it's SS, it's short cage, and if it's GS, it's medium cage.

What Phanta said. I only have 5800 GS to hand, i.e. the generation before with smaller capacity, and distance is around 85mm.
