May I come too?

Unless two people who know you really well provide independent reasons why you shouldn't be allowed, including at least one related to Health and Safety, yes.

It's in hte diary.  Can't say yet whether we will be there (or how many we will be), as there is somewhat of a random factor affecting planning at the moment. :-\

No fires?  :'(

No fires allowed.

That means "don't get caught", doesn't it?

:D

>:( naughty!

If it's 'No Fires', then I'm OK with no fires.  We're guests on someone else's land, after all.

Nuts, can't make those dates...

But I'd have been tempted to bring weaponry, so probably best I didn't attend. What with the air rifle threads I'd have been tempted to set up a YACF field target competition. Again prob best not to be done on a public campsite.

The last campsite I was on that allowed fires also had an absinthe promotion on at the bar. I felt myself lucky not to have been burnt in my tent that night.

From now onwards I will never complain that a site does not allow fires!

Sounds like a fab plan.  Can we light fires there?

Could be up for this - but train fare is 75 ish, with 2 or 3 changes - don't think I'll try the bike on that.

So car down to friends in Gloucester thursday, and cycle to the site on Friday, back Monday.

Or drive all the way?

Just keep checking.
You should get Stoke to London or Reading or even Andover for less than £15 each way.

Date is down in Diary. Really want to get my tent strapped to the bike sometime but couldn't commit to anything this far ahead.

I rather fear that my relationship with Mrs T would go into terminal decline if I pointed out that we where going camping in the UK in September as opposed to hiring a Villa in Turscany at the same time  :(

The lanes south of Andover are pretty much my old stamping ground (and, for that matter, just plain pretty).  If I can tempt Emily into a tent sumptuous boudoir, we'll bring the tandem.
Half term's when the traffic becomes mysteriously less bad for a week.

For anyone cycling to event on Saturday, be aware of opening times of Pub/Restaurant on site.

sat:12pm-2.30pm (Food 12pm-2pm)
6pm-11pm (Food 6pm-9pm)

Therefore time your ride and pub-stops accordingly.  5pm arrival would be fashionably perfect to set up tent, shower and arrive at pub doors at 5:59.

Saturday 'Social Ride' for anyone interested would be approx 12:00 - 17:00.

Here's an email from the Wyke Down pub.

if you want to book in the pub for more than 10 people to eat we will need a pre-order the day before. All the menu’s will be available on the website.

Nearer the time I'll request that anyone staying over and planning to eat in the pub/restaurant PMs me their name and meal choice so I can collate the choices and forward on to the pub.

That way there should be less "I forgot what I ordered" moments and save a load of time ordering individually.

Personally I'd like to get a load of us around a table, a sort of YACF "AGM" .
Start thinking about (and posting) award categories (Nothing sensible please).

= BUMP =

Just to try and catch as many YACFers are possible.

Just bookmark the dates in case you are at a loose end.

Another bump in April

It's in in pencil - I've eaten at the pub on a works do and it was quite acceptable.
