microsoft silverlight..?

As on ITV catchup.   Is this simply a video player?  Just concerned it may be peer2peer like the BBC iplayer.

Only the download version of iPlayer used p2p.Most people use the streaming version which isn't p2p.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Silverlight is merely a browser plug in to allow you to watch videos, etc. over the web. At the moment I think ITV only do streaming not p2p.
It didn't look at all like that in the photographs

Yup Silverlight is basically just Microsoft's attempted Flash replacement.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Which means flaws, mainly.
It is simpler than it looks.

It's pretty but resource-hungry.  C'est la media nouveau.  It isn't toxic.

I love the way they build it up with the "next generation experiences" etc....  That's a fairly wishy washy description that doesn't mean much to most people.

As for the BBC iPlayer, I've recently found that if I watch anything on it, connectivity is suddenly trashed and I have to get another ip address. Although that's most likely BT just being shite.....
