How many cups of tea do drink in a day?
« on: 07 December, 2009, 03:40:40 pm »
I've just counted today's pile of tea bags: 12 and it's still the afternoon!

Will this kill me?

None. Can't stand the stuff. Even the smell gives me the boak.

Herbal tea - bloody loads.

0. Tea is vile.

3 cups of coffee a day (down from >10 many years ago).

Depending on the tea you might be getting a not-insignificant caffeine intake, whether or not this is actually bad for you is another matter, if you're highly sensitive to caffeine you'd know about it already so I guess not.

1 Large cup at Breakfast
1 Large cup after evening meal
1 Standard mug while watching telly.

Weekends I drink considerably more tea.

Edit: Also half a bottle of red wine with meal, four times a week. And two 33cl glasses of beer(8%) when watching Friday night Magners league rugby.
I drink water at work.

Loads, but no caffeine after midday

At least ten cups of builders' tea a day.  Plus coffee at work or after meals at home sometimes.

This is too much, isn't it?

Tea has roughly 1/3rd the caffeine of coffee per cup so 12 cups of teas is equivalent to about 4 cups of normal coffee so I would say you are fine.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

2 uber-cups - 1 in the morn, one in the eve
3 large coffees throughout the day
Loads of tea at the w/end, maybe 1 coffee.

2 cups of tea in the morning
3 cups of coffee at work
1 tea with lunch
1 tea after lunch
maybe another tea about 3pm
2 teas when I get home

So that's 3 coffee and 7 teas

If at home, either two or three pots a day. One when I wake up, one at lunch and one in the afternoon. That's either 6 or 9 large mugs. No coffee though.

If at work, possibly not quite as much (the h/w machine is just too damned slow).

Gallons.  Tea at home, coffee at work.  Litres of the stuff.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

I drink 3-4 mugs of coffee in the morning, and about 5-6 mugs of tea thereafter.

Herbal/fruit tea for overnight (normally finished in the morning)

I drink loads too - but I'm alarmed by the 'pile' of tea bags. Please tell me you're not one of the evil people who leave them in the sink?

Tea bags go in the food section of the ever so complicated recycling orders.

As a couple, we use 2 or 3 teabags a day (one decaff + one or two 'normal') in 3 to 5 500ml buckets mugs. We don't like strong tea and don't use small teacups.

None.  Tea mings, and hot drinks in general hurt.

Partner drinks massive quantities of tea all day, though will generally compromise on hot chocolate before bed for not-smelling-of-tea purposes.

I've never understood the teabags-in-the-sink thing.  Unless you've got a waste disposal thinger that'll get rid of them, that's allowed.  Otherwise, they go in the bin. Yes, this causes the bin contents to remain perpetually damp and festery (see above re: tea consumption), but it's better than the kitchen smelling of tea the whole time.

Teabags go into our 'green organic' kitchen bin after they've dried out.
Bin does not get wet and Brent Council composts our organic waste.

Lord, no.

The pile is in the compost pot - it gets chucked on the heap every morning.

I'm on my seventh cup as I type and there may or may not be one more after dinner. A fairly typical day for me.

I rarely drink tea but some years ago I drank an excessive quantity of coffee at work& when I cut down I actually got withdrawal symptons in the form of headaches.
Now it's about 3x coffee daily & I'm trying to get to 1x morning & 1x afternoon.
I have recently increased my water intake from very little to about 4 litres daily.
