Yet Another Campag / Shimano Compatability Query
« on: 14 December, 2009, 05:50:54 pm »
Will a Campag (Mirage triple) rear mech work with Shimano STI shifter and Shimano cassette?

I'm transferring bits off one frame to another: the original has all Shimano transmission, including an Alivio rear mech, but I'm hoping to use a Mirage mech I've just found at the bottom of The Box Of Bits.

Thanks
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Not as it is.  Here are some ways to get it working.  Or just obtain a (second-hand?) Shimano mech.

I have a medium cage Shimano Tiagra 9 speed rear mech just sitting idle if you want it.

Hello again zanda. ;)
The bike I've stripped down is the, recently sold, Dawes Horizon, being replaced with a Ribble winter frame. The Dawes came with Shimano triple 8 speed. I actually had an Alivio on that, which will do, I was just hoping my rather nicer Campag rear mech would work instead.  :-\

Biggsy's link to Chris Juden's table confirms the answer is "no".
