Received the route sheet in today's post.Looks very similar to the Monkey Business route;in reverse.

My thoughts exactly.

I think the little hill in the middle of the route is slightly harder than the drag up to the church in the park on the Monkey Business route.. ;)

Not really hilly though is it. I  did this ride in 2008,  one of my first rides back after breaking my pelvis.

No, not really hilly, but as much as I feel capable of at the moment in my weighty unfit state.  If I could only shift some of this lard cycling would be a lot more fun.  I just wish patients would stop buying tins of Roses.  The grateful bastards.

I shall probably do this ride on gears to give a rough comparison of time-taken with the recent MB which I did on fixed

I'll  be on a geary, Eddy Merckx or Hewitt. I'm too sore for Fixed at the moment.

EDIT, I suppose if it's going to be sunny I'll have to smooth my legs. Hairy legs on a Merckx is wrong

Aye.  It'll be good.

Sounds like that other bit of Yorkshire-speak I hear often of late(one will be correct).
Both phrases seem to easily roll off the tongue :)

Does that mean I've gone native?  Crikey, it must be Crusty's influence.  That's what you get for living with an Old Leodensian for twelve years!

Don't know about going native.
I have found that "you'll be reet" has easily domociled itself into my vocabulary after no more than a couple of years of  intermittent contact with Mr.Nesbitt & Deano.

Such a thing never ocurred during a decade of daily contact with the staff at Airedale Air Conditioning in Leeds in the 1970/80's.During that time I maintained my Staffordshire dialect .

I agree its not really hilly, just saying the only real climb will a bit tougher than the  2 little pimples encountered on the Monkey Business. Spring into the Dales it is not!

I don't do Fixed after Easter usually, it's a winter training tool that's all.

I just remembered the hill just after the Abbey on the Monk'y Business.  Was I the only one who had to walk it?

My apologies - the climb after the Abbey is a lot harder than I made it out to be. It is a tough little incline and quite steep.
Yesterday my wife and I went for a liitle recce of the only real climb on the Wiggy 100 route, i.e between Ripley and Brimham Rocks. It's a long drag with one or two 10% bits, but not as bad as the above mentioned hill on the Monkey business route.

Got my routesheet, I'm in. I'd be surprised if they couldn't find a place for me though since the organiser is the chairman of my club ! Now, I did this in 2008, six weeks after my first ride back after breaking my pelvis when I was ooa for 5 months. If I can do those 'hills' at that stage, anyone can. !

I am beginning to wish I'd entered the 300 now. But no, I have my leaving do on Friday night so a 07:00 start to ride there will be early enough.
