What the hell is it?

Some sort of camel? A mate reckons it's a yak. And why are there fields full of the things where I was riding yesterday near Stratford?

It's a Welsh sheep bred for kissing too.
It is simpler than it looks.

Might it be a lama?

A Tibetan priest? I think it's more likely to be a llama, a South American camelid.

I wiki'd it and I don't think it looks right for a llama, wrong shaped head, too short and stumpy. Another idea was an alpaca, but it's not quite right for that, not hairy enough.

When you want to calm a llama down

Delicious, tasty alpaca.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

It might have been shaved a while ago.
Maybe the farm keeps them for their hair?

They do. There are some round here too. Alpaca wool is very good stuff.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Whether its a llama, alpaca, vicuña, guanaco or whatever, it's definitely one of their kin, i.e. a South American camelid.

Whoever reckoned it's a yak was 'avin' a laff.

Yaks is luvly.  But that isn't one in the OP. ;D

Looks too small for a llama, though they are farmed in many areas.  More likely an alpaca - once the source of cycling clothing.  It may be a vicuna, but they're smaller again, AIUI

It's an alpaca

There are loads round here - they're the animal du jour for the hobby farmer.  They're also widely used for getting round agricultural occupancy restrictions...

That'd clothe a lot of cyclists!

Incidentally, IIRC Titus Salt's massive New Mill in Saltaire (nr Shipley) was built to spin & weave alpaca.

EDIT: It wasn't just the New Mill, but the others as well, inc the one now known as Salts, which I think is more properly the Victoria Mill.
