Appen, as like.

Posting from Grassington where the locals speak a strange language not entirely unlike something completely dissimilar to English.

VELOMANCER

Well that's the more blunt way of putting it but as usual he's dead right.

Pictures will happen when I'm posting from something less annoying than an iPod! We've just had to cut our inaugural tour short and are currently heading south on the East Coast Mainline.

Oh dear. Why cut short, nothing serious I hope.

Reading across threads, I believe it is something serious.  I hope your enjoyment of the orange thing continues when they get home, though.

It looks better in the flesh.  A bit like my old Thorn, which always looked dull copper in photos.

Erm, it's a tandem, with pedals and wheels and seats and gears and it's orange.

It's a stock Santana SE Fusion (I think it's large-large) with S&S couplings and the following tweaks:

Nitto randonneur bars 45cm
9-speed shimano hyperglide cassette
Dura Ace bar end shifters
SON front hub
Tubus Duo front rack
Tubus Locc rear rack
Avid BB7 rear caliper
Schwalbe Marathon 26x1.75" tyres
B&M IQ Cyo headlight
B&M toplight line plus rear light
XT M770 SPD pedals
Customer supplied saddles (Brooks  B17 and B17S)

Gearing is 53-39-30 front and 12-36 rear. It weighs in at 27kg.

Oh, and it's orange (Bahama Orange according to Santana, it's a metallic finish, so looks quite woo in sunlight).

Nice floor tiles but a much nicer tandem!  All bikes look better loaded, especially tandems. How did you get on cramming your stuff into half as many panniers?

I hope the three of you have many happy miles together. Has it got a name?

We got it all in - just! We're now having a 'do we really need that as well as that?' rethink.

We're still learning tandemish, I keep trying to put the brakes on and Vernon has an annoying habit of forgetting that he has a passenger and clipping in to set off like he's on a solo while I've still got both feet on the ground.I also need to learn to stay clipped in and Vernon has to learn not to tip the bike sideways when we stop.

It doesn't have a name yet, I suggested Carless Santana and Vernon has proposed Wednesdays (do ask if you don't get it).
