My slowest 100km ever
« on: 07 June, 2008, 09:12:16 am »
Yesterday I set out from home at 6:30 to start a ride at 7:00am. 6 hours and 57 minutes later I finished, 64 miles, 103km.

Coming down a hill that I normally do at 4.5mph as opposed to 30 was difficult. However, I managed it.  :)

Some school mums started a running club last year, with the aim of getting fitter etc. They wanted to mark the anniversary in a positive way, so did this.

There were two cyclists supporting - we made sure that each runner/group of runners had someone with them. The support minibus went on to the rendezvous place for each leg and we shepherded the runners. One or two are very accomplished runners and covered much longer stretches - conversation possible with me, but at the other end of the scale were some who were really gutsy and from whom you got the odd grunted acknowledgement.

While we were waiting for the headmaster to turn up and change into his bunny suit there was an opportunity to wave at passing cars on the bypass.

It is simpler than it looks.
