Smithfield Nocturne '08

Here are a selection of random images from this evening’s racing at Smithfield.
The riders were quick.
Very quick.
Collectively they generated noticeable and significant and exciting air turbulence as they passed, in addition to making a noise mostly like plastic (carbon).

Pancake stops were not in evidence.
Unlike the unprecedented hordes of pre-pubescent schoolgirls vociferously cheering on the competitors.

Where do I sign to apply to take part in next year's event? ;)

The elite race was incredibly impressive, especially when it started raining towards the end.  Bike control at those speeds was unbelievable.

I recognise Roger Stocker, Southwark's cycling officer (on the left) but I don't know who any of the others are.

Duffers.  I'd recognise that lecherous grin anywhere.

Oh I see. Does that mean I've failed my cycling celebrity spotting challenge and can't have any more bicycles?
