For a weekend, I don't bother with a towel at all, except one of those mini ones on a karabiner for hands and face. For longer trips, we take 2 between us (one is mainly for my hair) from a variety of micro fibre, cheapo sports and bamboo. The bamboo one is surprisingly good and dries much faster than I expected. The cheapo (I think it may have come from the 99p shop) sports towel works best for my hair. :)

Do you mean I should actually be planning to wash my hair while cycle camping? (other than the obligatory on road deluge ofc)
 ???

Only for trips longer than 4 days in my case (and my hair is quite greasy). If my hair wasn't greasy, I would never shower on a tour. :-[

I find J Cloths good for getting most of the water off, a couple of these first and I then only need a small towel.

YES ! I've half packed already and I'm not going till 3pm. Then its an audax on the Sunday !  :)

Just need to find some hiding place near the audax start.

Looks like good cycling/camping weather  :)

Everything's packed (apart from the stuff I've forgotten).

Today I'm riding to the S Coast, and crossing to Dieppe tomorrow.

At the beginning of September I'll be home.

What happens in between could be interesting. Apart from 2 fixed appointments - Herentals in early July and Paris in late August - nothing is planned.

Cheerio.

We aren't camping, we called it off on account of the weather. It is raining, so we were probably right. Bike fettling instead.
It is simpler than it looks.

I'm camping in my parents' garden tonight with Miss Z the elder.  In the small tent.  It's going to be a fart-fest, isn't it?

It wasn't too bad.  Nice temperature and a good shower of rain to test the waterproofing.  We lit the lantern and watched the rain on the window.

We lit the lantern.

It is brilliant when you achieve that; even better if you avoid buttock burn.

The ultra-compact towels sort of work but I'd never take one camping in the car.

The cheap ones I use are more absorbent than a proper towel, just smaller.  The more expensive suedey microfibre stuff that's smooth, lightweight and takes mechanical encouragement to absorb water much less so.  We have both kinds, and I vastly prefer the cheaper ones.
Terry-towelling nappies work really well. Old ones are usually very soft, very absorbent and small.
