144, Burton Aqueduct

That's two aqueducts in a row - I'm on a hat-trick

142, Yealand Road Bridge.  This'll be a familiar one for many NW-based audaxers, as it's on the back way in to Burton Services on the M6.  The weather will probably aid the recollection

I think this is the most frequent bridge on this thread, but worth another picture.

141A, and it's culvert time again

141A by billplumtree, on Flickr

The Welcome to Cumbria sign I can live with, but the Lancaster Canal sign is a bit of a bloomin' cheek, given that it's on the very motorway that killed the canal by slashing it into bits.  Death by a thousand cuts.  Well, two, but a lorra lorra tarmac an'all.

I love those, but the one with the duckweed and the trellis effect makes me feel a bit ill.

Sorry Ruthie  ;D   140, Larks Bridge / Lock #5.  A lock with a bridge on the end.  How good can it get?

Between the closing of the northern end of the Lancaster and the opening of the Ribble Link the only locks on the whole canal were on the Glasson Dock branch, thobut.

Yeah, they are a bit light in the lock gate department, it has to be said.  A problem much more easily fixed than all the *sigh* culverts though...  139, Tewitfield culvert, here we come.

Footbridge (unnumbered) over the bottom (#1) unlock:

And now we skip on, past a few we've already visited, to the outskirts of Carnforth and to 129, Hodgson's Bridge

And on again into deepest Carnforth and 128, Carnforth (doh!) Bridge.  And it's only a bloomin' threefer!  From the back:  original stone arch, later extension, and adjacent steel/timber footbridge

Never expected to come across owt quite so lovely, tucked away below the road from the M6 into Carnforth.

Which is the bridge you cross after you leave the station, and head into the town?

It's not the most beautiful nor the oldest bridge in Prague, it's probably not even the largest, but this shows six of the seven tracks on the bridge near where we stayed. The sound of freight trains rumbling across a bridge is one I find soothing.  :)

Oh beautiful bridge over the silvery tay... There are two in this shot, one of which William Topaz macgonagall would never have seen.
