Carefull, you are only a short step away from suggesting roadkill, in which case there will need to be banjo music and greetings of "give me six"

True, but knowing this. last time I met her I carefully counted her fingers and drew the conclusion that it was an affectation rather than the natural consequence of inbreeding.

What about a trailer BBQ with a chain drive taken off one of thhe wheels to spit roast someting?  Say a goat.

Oh gods, rolling jerk goat?  I'm so there.  The veggies might not be though... not so much Team Speed as Team Meat.
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Adrian has just won the forum prize for the first recorded non-NSFW use of the term "spit roast"  ;D

Anyone know what's happening about the bookable return coach tickets?  Says on the SC site that they will be available to book from March but no sign yet.

Toontra,  there was an email to the Southwark Cyclists email list saying that tickets are now available.
Just click on the link that says Pay Now

Thanks for that Scum.  I'd never have found that myself as I was going to the Southwark C website and following The Dun Run link from the homepage, which doesn't have any info on it!

The spitroast idea sounds great. As does the meat thing :) Trouble is who would we spitroast? ;)

Sounds like a silly enough idea for me to engage my brain in bulding something lol

I might be up for the Dun Run if (and it's a big if) I can actually get properly fit.

The last time I rode 100+ kilometers, never mind miles, was in December 2006...  :-[ :o :-[

Not to worry you can do it if I could. The longest ride ever for me was 60km(many many moons ago), and I had been off the bike for over 4 years, when I decided to do the DD in 2006, so come and join us :)

Well, it's probably over 10 years since I last did over 100 miles.  On the other hand, I'm doing over 100 miles a week commuting now, so that's got to help.
Actually, it is rocket science.

I created a Dun Run event page on Facebook and it's starting to gather unknown faces. Got a good feeling about this year...

Quick question - has anyone managed to get one of the cheap tickets from Darsham to London as mentioned in the FAQs?

www.thetrainline.co.uk lists the journey (20/07/08 at 1445 to 1701 with one change) at £33.50 for a saver single.  The same as the on the day price in the FAQs.

Will this get cheaper as tickets are "released"?

I don't have a Facebook login and haven't felt the need for one in over 25 years of PC ownership. How can I read the FAQs ?

I wouldn't trust that. We watched a very irate lady at Darsham station last year. She'd booked herself and her bike on the train, but wasn't allowed to board. Too many people already on the train with bikes. She was quite within her rights to be pissed off and she did sneak on just as the doors were closing which was quite cool. But the conductor was going pretty mental!

We resigned ourselves to the fact that we weren't going to get on that train, so we just rode to another station (upwind of Darsham) sat in a pub for a bit and then felt smug when passing through Darsham - we had tickets, we had seats. Can't kick us off now!! A worthwhile tactic (but don't tell anyone! ;) )
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

[what bobb just said]
Actually, when we did pull in at Darsham, already on-board with bikes and comfortably seated, there wasn't that many cyclists trying to all get on the train at once (as with the previous train and resultant melee that we had witnessed), so our sense of smugness at having beat the system was diminished. The poor train conductor was having her wost day ever - I remember her saying that the train was only supposed to take a maximum of two bikes (it was two-carriage train I think), and there must have been about 50 bodies and bikes trying to squeeze on.
