Ha! You lot and your big city ways.  ::-)
I'm not long back from a 3 hour drive home in the snow. I've just had a roll with two sausages and Branston Pickle, accompanied by several glasses of Merlot.
There, now you know the secret of my success in winning the yACF Ecosse Highest BMI award.  :P ;D
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Tuna pasta salad.  One of those days when only comfort food will do.

Yes, damp & miserable.

PS were you riding up Myrtle St last night with a young lady in tow ?  Approx 7:20

Whoops, only just seen your reply! Yes, that was me and Jen, well spotted.  You really must come say hello one of these days :P

I was head down & heading for some Beethoven at the Philharmonic, otherwise I'd have leapt in front of you & said hello!    As it was I just caught sight of a young chap on a fixed wheel and thought "was that Phil?" and you'd gone.

Curry goat a la Andy, because there was a half-leg of goat at the farmers' market (the goat-cheese man had had a cull!):

Loads of spices including the regular curry stuff, some jerk seasoning, lots of turmeric, cinnamon, tamarind, mango chutney, GOAT! and almonds, raisins, apricots, onion, celery and tomatoes -- fry the spices to wake 'em up, then fry the goat and remove. Soften the onions and celery, return the goat to the pan, add a can of tomatoes and a pint of stock, cover and slow-cook in the oven for three hours. Serve with plain brown rice.

It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

For a starter, I had four Whitstable native oysters, bought from Whitstable harbour fish market this morning - only £1 each! (Sound a lot but it's a good price for natives, and a positive bargain compared to the £3 each I saw them being sold for in Borough Market last week.) Had one with a squeeze of lemon, two with a tiny dash of Tabasco and one au naturel. Bloody lovely they were too.

I keep thinking I ought to eat more oysters but rarely do anything about it. However, the natives are pretty much at the peak of their season right now and I was in town this morning so thought why the hell not! Natives are a bugger to open compared to rock oysters but the extra effort is well worth it - food does not come much finer.

For a main course, my wife made us meatballs to the Leon recipe. A marvellously tasty treat.

Starter of scrambled egg with mushrooms on toast, then Poached cod with mussels, tomatoes and chorizo followed by tarte de pomme with creme fraiche and coffee, all helped down with a nice white Chateau Neuf du Pape.

All in a family group of long lost cousins.   Great evening.

Just back from a gig.

Large doner kebab.

It's a tradition, like, innit?

Stonkin curry last night.

Kids ate too, so not everything was hot.

Shepherds Pie, carrots, and gravy.

I fancied some red wine with it, and after a quick hunt around in my booze store, I found a bottle of 2004 Cotes du Ventoux.  That may make it a bit older than ideal, according to a quick check with Google, but I doubt my palate is that good at discerning any issues with it.

Now, what for afters...?
Actually, it is rocket science.

Bangers and Mash - yum yum.  Unfortunately having finished dinner, discovered the sausages may have been made with Irish Pork, so maybe I should have said Bangers and Mash, spiced up with the merest hint of Dioxin  Still very tasty though
