I've mostly enjoyed the first 6 episodes, including the special, of this new series. Yes, they don't explain every point, but that's always been a bit true of Dr Who. In a 60 minute programme, there's a limit to how much background exposition you can include.
Like any series, the quality can be a bit variable, but I think I've enjoyed the The Church on Ruby Road and The Devil's Chord the most, so far.
73 Yards was a little weird, as it really didn't include much of the Doctor himself. That's happened before, Blink being a good example, and it was quite a clever episode, but I felt a little cheated!
Whilst Dot and Bubble had some nice ideas, with things like Social Media becoming completely immersive and normalised, ultimately making Lindy and the other survivors so repulsively bigoted seemed unnecessary to the story, and ultimately left me really not caring about them or their future. It was just a bit of downer, and didn't seem necessary for the plot.
