Not a helpful title. I think they asked for helmet cam footage and a few people refused because they were unsure of the editorial line.

The trailer I saw used well known footage of a bunch of couriers riding recklessly through London aggravating drivers and pedestrians.  You could pretty much write the comments list now.

Oh Noes! It clashes with Chris Tarrant's "Extreme Trains"!
If the barriers are down, then the train gets priority.

I saw the trailer as well, I suppose they want to attract attention.

The programme's already been condemned as endangering cyclists:

And the thread title's not much use either.

Does look pretty awful. Letter writing time....
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

Thanks for that Tom.  I'd been intending to watch but I have enough trouble with my mood as it is, so I don't think i'll bother now.

Showing the Brunelle footage of couriers racing through London jumpid reds and scattering peds and not making it clear it's a filmed stunt by idiots is like showing the car chase from The Blues Brothers and pretending that's how drivers behave.

I really don't think the producer has any idea what is meant by 'balance' or 'representative'. It is rabble-rousing and irresponsible.

I hope the CTC and others are trying to stop it from being shown.

There's already another thread on this.

<mod - we have merged these threads and changed the name to the slightly clearer name of the 2nd thread.>

There;s no chance that the programme will not be shown. It's been heavily promoted and the BBC clearly views it as a major production. I'm afraid all we can do is engulf the Beeb with complaints afterward.  (BTW, it actually doesn't take many calls to jam the BBC switchboard, to quote a media cliche.)

Some kind of innocent, silent flashmob demo of cyclists outside the swish  new BBC HQ might be a better 'protest '. Needs to be completely inoffensive though.

How about a flashmob carol sing, on bikes?

ETA - clearly, carol singing wouldn't be silent, but you get my drift...

^^^ New HQ is in Salford, it needs to be more of a flash-bang mob to fit in with the area

Why should my personality change when I get out from behind the steering wheel of a car and on to my bike? We are the same people. I do think the problems can be blown out of proportion. We need to talk to each other in a civilised manner, and I don't think a programme like this really helps. It's not a war out there.

I assume it's the "London Calling" footage?  I rather enjoyed that, although the music was a bit D&D-silly.

You can see the riders, not necessarily from London Calling, having a "chat" with the Police about their riding on the, freely downloadable from youtube, Line of Sight video.

I assume that for balance the BBC also included clips of car street racing and drifting, which is just as indicative of general driving standards as the alley cat racing is of cyclists.
