I suppose this means I ought to make a plan or something...

I emailed the camp site/pub to let them know about our plans.

It should be a really nice weekend, especially as there's no rush to get back for an organised meal this time.

I fully intend to visit more pubs this time.

For the benefit of this thread, I think I should probably state:  Bloody Trains.  Hampshire's a bit of an arse to get to at the best of times, but there seems to be an outbreak of bustitution on the Sunday to further complicate matters.

Extend the weekend and take a pleasant couple of days to ride home ?

An excellent suggestion, if I wasn't joining nikki OTP on her tour to York immediately afterwards.

Suspect I'll have to go via That London.

Just realised that my Archery Club's championship shoot starts at 10am on the Sunday and I need to be there at 9am.

I may have to ease back on the beer on Saturday night OR (more likely) attempt to shoot 12 doz arrows with a hangover.

This either increases or decreases my chances of a medal (to be determined).

Arrows and beer?  I'm sure that's how we beat the French a few times.

Nah, there's a fully waterproof pub on site and other, waterproof, pubs along the route.

Kim,

If anywhere in the vague vicinity of Swindon is more convenient for you to get to and from, I'm happy to help out. There's room on the roof of the car for an upwrong, not sure about securing a 'bent though.

Drop me a PM if there's anything I can do.

Thanks for the offer, but I reckon Swindon suffers from the same fundamental problem as Andover - it being roughly equidistant between the two useful train routes.

It's going to come down to a choice between going back via London, or doing some proper cycling.

Are there Bus-titutions between Brum and Basingstoke?  It's usually a direct journey to Basingstoke and a nice ride (or train) to Andover (if you choose the right route).

I've got to decide if I come by train and have a weekend of bikepacking-y bivvy bagged minimalism or if I throw the bike in the back of the car and drive allowing a little more luxury?

Sadly cycling the whole way isn't possible, if I'm not leaving work early...

Do we have the field where they don't cut the grass, or the main site where they do?
