Calamity Jane - a good Sunday Morning film (i.e. can be watched leisurely whilst feeling sorry for oneself and wandering in and out of the room, listening to the songs whilst baking muffins).

Then turned the TV on and they're showing Calamity Jane, so we're watching it again!

Fishtank.  What is usually called a gritty urban drama.  Decent enough British film.

Dead Snow - A formulaic, Norwegian zombie gore fest. Involved WWII nazis and a very nice blonde. Laughably fun to watch. Had the tag line "Eins, Zwei, Die!"

The family returns today, so my movie watching will take a back seat for a while.

Four Lions last night on the telly. Funny and poignant in places. The exploding crows and wrong way round rocket launcher were genius.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

The Warriors.

Strange little film; like a greek myth but set in the Bronx of "the near future".  When I was watching I was thinking this is ok, but overnight its clearly stuck in the mind.  Iconic.

Warriors, come out to plaaayay.

Seen that so many times.  It should be tacky, but it's great.

United 93.

Docudrama style account of the 9/11 plane hijacks - directed by Paul Greengrass.  Well done and shocking.   :(

Sunday, went to the cinema to watch Pedro Almodovar's latest: The Skin I Live In.  Would have made a good Tales of the Unexpected.  Great twist in the middle of the film, which I am man enough to admit I didn't see coming.  Either side of the twist, one is left wondering where the hell it is going (in other words, takes a while to get to the twist and once it gets there it seems to have little sense of what to do with it).

I watched it yesterday, now I'm seriously tempted to go again this afternoon.  Smiley vs Karla was very good, Smiley vs Ann had a touch missing.  The Prideaux - Hayden relationship was done just right  :)

God that was seriously good. Yes, the Prideaux-Hayden relationship was great  :) Gary Oldman was outstanding, as was Cumberbatch.

+1 for all of that, the best film we've seen for ages, and one of the most beautifully shot films I've ever seen. That bit where they're on the runway with the plane behind?  Almost had a crisis in my trousers.

It was alright, I s'pose.  <doesn't really 'get' films.>
The Cathy Wos'name (Burk?) Character - The head Russia expert, was much greater in the book.  I couldn't see the point of her in the film.

But there was. She was institutional memory and held some of the jigsaw pieces. All the parts in the film had their part to play. And yes it was Kathy Burke and I've missed her.

Sorry to intrude on the TTSS love fest but, my weekends viewing consisted of-

Donnie Brasco. A quality film with excellent performaces from both Al PAcino and Johnny Depp

"Fagghedaboutit".

Death Becomes Her- Comedy gold.

Inbetweeners. Apart from one slightly dodgy bit of casting, one of the girls seems too old, but other than that very entertaining and I for one will be using the term 'children's toilet'

In the most behind-the-times posting since Fuzzy's review of Donnie Brasco:

Hot Fuzz. I was worried this couldn't be half as good as Shaun Of ... , but it was great. The story and the finale were a bit run-of-the-mill, but there were sooo many great moments in the first hour that I was a very happy bunny.

Next, if we get our arses to the cinema:
Tinker Tailor ... - cautiously excited about this.
Troll Hunter - childishly excited, and trying to avoid reading too many reviews.
