Amazing film.  So awful it's brilliant.

Colonel Edwards gives the command to "Fire" at 19 minutes

I've just got hold of all of the Star Wars movies. I've only ever seen the original and the The Empire Strikes back. What order should I watch them in?

Or should I just bin them and go back to my stockpile of when-there's-nothing-else-on Kung Fu movies?

Jogler, was that just a random comment, or have you been watching H2GT2G ?

I have various of the Halloween films on my PC, from ages back when the Beeb broadcast them.  I just got around to watching Halloween: Resurrection.

It seemed to be as good as you would get from this sort of film.  Mostly fairly predictable.  Nothing bad about it, but not particularly surprising or interesting either.  I don't think I'll be bothering to watch it again.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Hrrmph.

One doen not *watch* hhgttg.
One *listens* to hhgttg, off scratchy cassette recordings of the original R4 broadcasts, "starring Peter Jones as The Book".
Complete with Marvin humming Pink Floyd's Shine On YOu Crazy Diamond music as they land on Magrathea.

Anyways, Does Kirst have more one more up-top than we had previously suspected?
I think we should be told.

Well of course that's the correct way to do it, but this is a Film thread, so I assumed that's what Jogler was or wasn't doing (and before I noticed that someone had changed her name).

Have you got Pink Floyd on a recording?  My CDs (now from over twenty years ago) don't have that particular bit of music on them, as far as I recall, from the Beeb not stretching to spend the money on the rights for the CDs that they had been willing to spend for broadcast.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Return of the Jedi.  Comfortably one of the three worst films I ever saw.

Frost/Nixon.

I can't believe I waited this long to see it.  They give good tension!

Super 8.

Wasn't sure what to expect.  Found the story a bit average, but the acting was engaging. And some of the set pieces were well done.

Your Sister's Sister starring Crusty's girlfriend Emily Blunt. A truly funny romantic comedy. It has cycle camping in it. But there is also a traumatic scene of horrific bike abuse. Crusty said "I haven't seen you this upset since Schindler's List". Poor bikey.

Anyway it's really good and has some fab improvised dialogue and nice autumn scenery. Recommend you see it.

That Batman thing. It was alright. It's not really my cup of tea but Mr M liked it.

But the trailers! We saw four trailers for upcoming new films. I say 'new'. We had:

Dredd - a remake of Judge Dredd
Man of Steel - a remake of Superman
Total Recall - a remake of, well, Total Recall, completely without irony
Loopers - a man comes from the future to kill himself in the past, basically, Terminator with Bruce Willis and less robots.

Someone needs to write some new stories.....

Seems to be a of a Marmite film, I enjoyed it, Mrs T less so.

Apparently this is closer to the comic than the camp Sly Stallone one (I swear I saw a row of pink chiffon tents in that one)

Man of Steel - a remake of Superman

Dear god, NO! It's been done to death, on big screen and small, just give it a rest, like Spiderman, it's run it's course.

Hmmm, might be ok, probably won't

Oh dear

The big studios are resting on their laurels, they know what sells and so will do it to death (look a the dearth of Jaws clones in the late '70's and early '80's for comparison).  The Studios are getting very risk averse, as they tend to in tight economic times.  This is bad for the average cinema goer.

I watched Koyaanisqatsi (again) whilst I was on the turbo last night.

For some reason, spinning like a demon to the music of Phillip Glass seems somehow right (the visuals helped, too)

Goy to see all of The Guardian last night.

The US Coast guard version of Top Gun.

Kevin Costner as the grizzly old veteran rescue swimmer exorcising demons by being forced into an instructor post where Aston Kutcher is being beasted whilst exorcising his own demons.

Actually a good film (IMHO).

Steady now; more on a par with that film about U.S. Navy Divers with De Niro and Cuba Gooding, i.e., sentimental tripe for a U.S. audience.
