turn warnings (bleeps) and waypoints on Etrex 30
« on: 05 May, 2013, 02:36:50 pm »
Hi all,

I have an Etrex 30 which I am trying to get to grips with.

I have made a track which I can follow using "where to". Furthermore I have made some separate waypoints in Basecamp placed  along the track at turns. I then send these to the Etrex from Basecamp. When I cycle along I can follow the track but I do not get any audio (bleeps) when I go through or are near the turn waypoints. "tones" and "turn warnings" are ON in setup.

Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

Thanks

I think your problem is that you're following a track not a route. You can get BaseCamp to create a route.

Wot e said

Just make sure when you convert the Track to a Route you choose the right amount of points for either Off Road or On Road navigating (whole new subject!)

The bleeps won't work but you can do as you did (navigate a Track using Where To) and have visual prompts of the upcoming waypoints by using a couple of data fields - like this ...
when you're dead you're done, so let the good times roll

Ok.  For some reason I thought that separate waypoints always gave an alert.
Thanks
