I can't really see the bottom bracket area - is there any reason why it can't be fitted with a triple chainset?

As long as I can find a front dérailleur that fits the seat tube. Not sure it needs it, though. Depends how many hills I'm planning on taking it up...

If you fitted one you'd probably only ever use the inner two. But with a chainline that long you could go to a quad.
