All the SNO is gorn, even from the north-facing pavement on Larrington Gardens Road where there was still some stubbornly hanging on last night.

Could be worse.  My grate frends Al'n'Alice had an earthquake* yesterday.  Not a big one but enough to break a jar of molasses and cause ants to invade their kitchen.

-34C was the daytime high today. It's getting old quickly. Forecast says it should get into single digits next week.

It's nippy enough over there that even the BBC saw fit to mention it.

Crikey, that's the point where you stop caring if it's degrees Frankenstein or degrees SCIENCE.

Temperatures in Elk Park, Montana, dropped to -50F (-45C), while the town of Hell, Michigan, has frozen over.

I think the two coincide at or near -40 anyway. Frosty eyelash weather.

They do, which is why that was the temperature chosen to be the (almost universal used) dew point for dry compressed air. Saved confusion between Europeans and Leftpondians.

And yet Edmonton is on the same latitude as Hamburg, Dublin and Manchester!

13°C here at the moment. NYD 2022 was, memorably, the warmest on record - I went for a swim to raise money for the RNLI.

Last year, I swam sans wetsuit. Air temperature 16°C, water temperature 9.2°C, according to the RNLI event organisers. I didn’t stay in very long.

This year, the event was held on Boxing Day as they need a morning tide. I haven’t been in since November and was due at my brothers’ for lunch, so I gave it a miss. My pal Sherry did swim, but she didn’t stay in for long.
