New PC - Windows 10
« on: 21 September, 2015, 12:12:04 pm »

Buying a new PC with the option of Windows 7, 8 or 10. I am happy enough with 7.

Any reason to go to a higher level?

Thanks

No reason why not. If you are concerned about privacy, MS have backported a chunk of the telemetry changes into Windows 7/8 via Windows Update.

Windows 8.1/10 are faster than W7, at least in terms of boot time.

And you'll get nagged narrow (by MS) to upgrade to 10 anyway  ;)

Have a PC with Windows 7, nagged to upgrade to 10 but ignoring, as the PC is 6/7 years old anyway, and W7 is fine.

Today bought a new one with W8, option to go to 10, so taking it before installing any software, as W8 is apparently pants and 10 will give the longest life before support is withdrawn.

Amazingly long-winded process to get W8 going, then upgrade. As an ex-IT person, I can cope, but don't know how the person in the street manages.
