Any ideas how to repair this?

Broken lamp - delete after use! by steve.palmer24, on Flickr

I'm guessing a metal glue on the broken surfaces wouldn't be strong enough.

It's one of a matching set of 4 and at least 30 years old - annoying. Fortunately it was Mrs Zendog what broke it
otherwise I'd be in trouble.

Cheers
Steve

Take wiring out.

Reinforce joint with some tubing (carefully deburred).

Clean and degrease all surfaces.

Epoxy being careful to not get any in tube.

Smooth down any rough bits on outside of join and recolour.

Rewire.

Hmm, not really.

My first inclination would be an internal splint tube ( with a slot to get the wires in, if they can't be threaded ), epoxied in place.

But the curvature would make that quite hard.

I am no expert would suggest renewing wiring, filling void with chemical metal/epoxy putty and gluing outside metal with epoxy.

Get rid of all dust before starting.

How about filling internal sections with something like Tetrion filler leaving excess to splurge out, pushing back together, taping to hold whilst it sets? Could form a solid rod of solidified Tetrion or something which would last

Just needs a bit of Sugru, surely? ;)
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

I wouldn't have thought Sugru was sufficiently rigid.

Epoxy putty is hard, solid and strong.

I'd go with epoxy putty.

Duct tape ...

I reckon internal tubular splint + epoxy. Using a relatively short section of tubing as a splint should make it possible to get round the problems of curvature, probably along with judicious application of brute force to make it conform.

Sounds like an excellent candidate for the "you broke it, you fix it" principle.

Break the other 7 horns in the same way and sell the set as art.
It is simpler than it looks.

Right I'm going to try epoxy putty and some sort of splint.

I'm a bit it stuck on what to use. I cropped the photo quite a lot -
there is not much room in there.

Anyway thanks for the pointers.

Cheers
