I should be around tomorrow evening.  Anyone else about (I see upthread that OD is a no, Tomsk is a no, but wow is a maybe - any others?)

Any preferred venues?

I'm around, but my limited TomTom hasn't got a rats chance of being able to plan a route easily. Saying that, there's probably a 22 mile route to Maldon and back I think I remember, with a little fettling, it could be bumped up to 30+

If I knew how to upload pictures I could post the route, or maybe my iPad can't do it?

OK - how about the Blue Boar in Maldon.

I'm happy to create a route from Witham or follow you.

If I do make the route how much Oscars-Dad-Comedy-Off-Roading do you want? ;)

(As it happens, I have an old route - possibly the first route I ever plotted out - that is also 22 miles taking in Maldon:  http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/5-pubs-from-the-GBG - it also goes past at least 5 pubs from the 2009 Good Beer Guide, but it seems, bizarrely, not to go up North Hill ;))

My Manchester ride last night also included comedy off-roading that was so hardcore one of the riders fell off and hurt her arm!

I may well be able to come out to play*, I'd like to try out my new long Audax addition to the road bike.  As another option on a Maldon-ish ride here is a 30+ miles route that gratuitously takes in Fuller Street before actually visiting TMNH and latterly Market Hill.
http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=412936
Or we can do a meld of the two suggested routes or just follow slippy.
I would be very happy to miss out Oscars-Dad-Comedy-Off-Roading for one week at least  ::-)

* My availability will mainly depend upon work allowing me to finish in UK office hours.

I'd love to go to the Blue Boar, but I was thinking of down to the harbour, thought it might be nice next to the sea :-) The Queen's Head is the one I'm thinking of - The Hythe, Maldon, CM95HN

I think the route is about 23 miles, add on North Hill and it's closer to 28 I would say, though I'm relying on my TomTom after that to get to Maldon.

Actually this might work - http://www.endomondo.com/workouts/110887497/2636501 to show you what I mean!

Shall we say 7:30 at the Fire Station?

See you chaps next week!

As things worked out, I'm now in Chelmsford with chief drinking ale and discussing some audacious cycling possibilities

On Wednesday, we need a pre-A&S beer outing... where to, though?

We could try to get Slippy to the Compasses again, or maybe do the Wagon & Horses?

My departure time is dependent on when mrs_o arrives back with Acorn#1.  Somewhere between 7.35 and 7.45 is usual.

Sounds good to me.

How about a route something like this

Slightly shorter than usual so we should get to The Compasses around 9pm, and it doesn't use any of OD's favoured off-road/crappy surfaces.

Shorter isn't such a bad thing - I wouldn't mind getting back a little ealier!
