What a top night!  We sneaked into The Cats for a quick one and to introduce tippers to Wally (who was all cheerful yet again) and then onto The White Swan, our way lit by the most beautiful moon I've seen in ages.

We tried to carry out the pickled egg initiation ceremony but were thwarted by the fact that they didn't have any.  However, Phil the landlord (I think that was his name) has promised to get some in so we promised to go back in a fortnight.

PS - does anyone know what that sort of moon is called?

For your info in case you'd either like to join us, meet at The Compasses or completely avoid and go somewhere else entirely:
This week's Wednesday ride for me (and maybe one or two others OTP) will be a Witham Cycling led ride.  Our expected arrival time at The Compasses will be between 8:45 and 9pm depending upon pace of most novice rider.  So far we have 11 riders signed up with some maybe's representing a mix of very experienced to novice.
I will need to begin the return to Witham at about 10pm to ensure an 11pm finish in Witham.

I'll have a half full pannier should the keeper of the coffee table turn up at The Viper wanting to get rid of it  ;)

Never knowingly underfed on an Audax

Due to my absence from hearth and home last weekend and the A&S coming up next, I have been persuaded to forego the Compasses this Weds.....

Just back from a 40+ ride. Guess who went to the wrong pub? I'll let you have three guesses but you'll only need one!   ::-)

I wish I was but no!  :-[
I'm sure our visit to the Italian Alps will help though.  ;D

Perhaps the chronic inability to cycle to the right pub is a little known medical condition. You need to get yourself checked out!

I've only forgotten the pub to ride to once, that was today and I did remember after a bit, the other times were misremembering which pub to visit or reading the wrong line in the runs list.
Any hoo despite the crap weather tomorrow night I will be at the Compasses with book and maps, hopefully they will remain dry even though I won't be!

Conference calls by pesky colleagues on US time notwithstanding, I should be there.  I can probably make it to Maltings in time to join huggy's Witham Cycling led ride too (I've even printed out the paperwork although odds are high that the form will still be on the printer when I roll up at Maltings ;)).

Hmm! Very heavy rain forecast, 20-30mm, lightning, to continue until the early hours.
May I be excused please?

Great fun indeed!
Otter's pockets and haddock's bathing costumes had nothing on me by the time I got home.

Jens would have waited for the proper rain, I think ;)

My cycling kit was drier when I took it out of the washing machine than when it went in!
