Unfortunately I ate the rest of the curry I'd made for lunch.

Which means its now 1.42am and I'm lying here with my abdomen as tight as a drum, waiting for that moment when I can play what sounds like a middle c on a muted trumpet, held for about 8 seconds, roll over and go back to sleep

Boy Dun Good.

We're having galettes.  My parents have just come back from France with, inter alia, two bags of buckwheat flour. :)

That went well.  I was very happy with the outcome.  I did the traditional egg in the middle bit for the first time, and it was OK, but there's a balance to be had between having the egg white cooked through and the galette overcooking.  Butterfly, in particular, doesn't like the egg white being at all runny, but it was getting towards burning the galette.

Any tips from more experienced crepiers?

Were your eggs room temperature? Too many  people cook eggs from the fridge.

M&S dine in for a tenner meal, gammon joint and little roast potatoes. Mrs Pcolbeck is very busy tonight.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Mrs Pcolbeck thinks the bottle of wine might have been in the wrong place as it was exceptionally nice. There was a small problem getting it through the till as part of the meal deal but the nice checkout operator manually adjusted the price :)

Breaded chicken fillet sandwiches raised from banality by some rather excellent BBQ sauce I bought on one of our rare trips to Waitrose.

Spaghetti Carbonara, made with a rather nice lump of jamon serrano. Not strictly traditional, but damn fine none the less.

Sounds tasty.
Perhaps Certainly not traditional either, but carbonara also goes rather well with a rather nice lump of smoked haddock.  :)
It's a bit weird, but actually quite wonderful.

Curry. Spanking hot curry. So there.
It is simpler than it looks.

I'm curious, am I the only one that has had the habit over the years of pronouncing it carbon-uh-RAH? (yes, that way) Oh, so I'm the only one who knows what I'm talking about, too? thought I might be.

I've always said carbon-AH-ruh.

I made a giant roast last night so dinner this week will mostly be leftovers :)

It's so long ago I think I may even have  forgotten where it came from, I'm pretty sure it was Julie Waters, and I think it was Educating Rita, her mispronunciation of Carbonara was used to good effect and stuck in my lexicon, but it was such good effect that I have forgotten the rest. Oh well.

Baked sea bass with sorrel sauce, ratatouille, baked potatoes & a bit of broccoli. All matched nicely to a supple Viognier wine from pays d'Oc.

Most ingredients came from the Bull Ring markets as I made my way to an excellent lunchtime performance by a local string quartet.

The sorrel sauce was time-consuming - first time I've tried it. It was well worth the effort, but technique needs improving.

For the second time this week: Liver (5.8mg/100g)& bacon casserole. With broccoli (1mg/100g).

Coming soon: Oysters (4.6mg/half doz), mussels (8mg/doz) kidney (6.3mg/100g), scallops (3mg/100g) clams (2.8mg/100g) and steak (2.9mg/100g).

Blackstrap molasses (3.5mg/15g), dried peaches (6mg/8halves) cashew nuts (2.6mg/50g) and pumpkin seeds (4.7mg/50g) for pudding.

How does anyone, ever, manage to eat 14mg a day without taking tablets? I can count on the fingers of my knees how often I've had dried peaches and mussels in the same day.

I am guessing, from the list preceeding your question, Iron.
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State
