In the oven & smelling very nice.   I forgot to get any white wine though, so can't stick it  into the mix at the end.   :(

We had a Dishoom feast last night (and this morning!): Ruby Chicken, Mutton Pepper Fry, some regular Dhal and home made naans.
Spent most of the day making it, once you have done all the sub-recipes.

Left-over naans made for excellent bacon and egg naans with tomato chili jam this morning!
Had to make the tomato chili jam first, because the jar I'd bought from the restaurant was finished. It's trivial to make, but I think I'll half the sugar next time I make it.

My bigos got nommed about an hour ago, so I'd try for somewhere closer to home rather than making an unnecessarily long journey.

It being properly January now and my weight having increased by more than I would like in the last 2 or 3 months, a vegetable stir fry is on the menu. Lots of fresh fruit and veg in my diet for the next few months, til I lose the autumnal spare tyre.

Roast pork belly stuffed with black pudding & apple.  Mine was no where near as good as the pictures, the crackling was non existent, but it tasted good.   :P

This requires kidney. Which in my case the butcher has not got.  Plan B, vegetable casserole with dumplings.

One of those serendipitous moments when fridge and inspiration collide  ;D

It all started with a packed of filo pastry, gifted to me by Miss Ham & Fam, who had received it as a substitution in a Sainsbo's order. What was it substituted for? I hear you ask. Why, 2 pints of semi skimmed milk, of course. Why did you even have to ask?

So, some pie or other wrappy thing was deffo on the cards. What do we have in the fridge? The remains of a large roast chicken from yesterday (basically slight less than one d-cup chicken breast). Chicken pie it is. Fry up that scrawny aubergine and a pepper. Defrost some spinach. All in. And then the serendipity: A Coulommiers Lait Cru (half price after Crimbo) sliced over the top.

Finally manged to get some from my local fish van so tonight it was halibut with lemon risotto. :P

Redux. Quite excited.

Also managed to get some (huge) kippers. I was having a hankering for kippers in the festive holidays but all the fish shops were closed. So that'll be breakfast this weekend then.

Well that's pure dead bollocks that is.
Turns out this numpty didn't read the text properly and it's frozen halibut . So that'll be tomorrow's dinner.

Manky old baked taters tonight instead then.  ::-)

Gammon and chips. Haven't decided on egg or pineapple yet.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Pineapple ring into frying pan, egg broken into the centre of said ring.
