In a similar vein, I lost a cleat the other day on my way home (through being too lazy to stop and sort it out when it was obviously loose). the lazyness continued thinking I'd just use a different pair in the morning. Which I did.

<rummage rummage>Ooo look, a pair of hardly used spesh, can't remember when I bought them or why I haven't worn them much

<wears>

remembers why they are there - b*stard things don't clip in (cleat too tight in recess) plus there's  about 10mm more in the sole

<swears>

Can I also recommend one of these http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ergon-pedal-cleat-tool/ to duplicate shoe setup. A bit of a luxury, but there you are

Fitted a pair of tubeless tyres (Schwalbe 1, 25c) to a set of Deda Zero 2 wheels using a Schwalbe Tubeless Easy kit. After all the tales of woe I’ve heard about fitting tubeless, I was expecting it to be quite a job but it was actually a doddle. Although maybe I should reserve judgment until I’ve actually ridden them...

I, on the other hand, spent a pleasant couple of hours recently watching my chum Professor Baldissera trying to fit a Schwalbe One to an Aerospoke, and learning some Torinese Bad Swears ;D

Drive train was knackered on the cross-check. Had some bits in the shed - chain, 7 spd casette and a 36t middle ring - so switche from 8 - 7 spd. Got new jockey wheels from SJS cyycles, Going to notice the difference in the middle ring as I've gone from 11-30 to 11-28 and a 34t chain ring to a 36.

Today's bit of fun was replacing parts of the dining room ceiling which had water damage from a bathroom leak. The house is an early victorian stone build with 11ft ceilings.
Two patches needed doing, both about 95x75 cm. Messy but now I have the new plasterboard in place and will do the plastering tomorrow. That is sure to be fun.

Working overhead is somewhat tiring for a desk jockey like me.

Oh yes, it did require new tools. A drywall saw (a vicious large toothed padsaw). Excellent value for money.

Mostly removal of extraneous bits from the MTB I sold.  Ended up rock bottom price on e-bay, so no compunction about selling it bare.

On reflection though, for two recent bike sales I'm only £60 down on selling as second hand so not too bad.

Cleaning out the moka pot, a very infrequent job.

Apparently a GP7200 GE/PW collaboration.

Yesterday, replaced the swingarm pivot in an old Brompton. A certain amount of drilling was required but it all came together nicely, complete with grease injection nipple. With luck, this bike will never need another pivot.

Also degunked a sticky Ultegra STI and readjusted a front mech. The mech isn't perfect but it is now completely functional, tested during a 200 today.

The one that exploded above Batam a few years ago on a quantas plane was rr, if this was another one could be very embarrassing for them.

GE/Pratt & Whitney it was.

I have a major fettle coming up: toddling round on the tradition chip'n'walrus today, something on the bike sounded like a sheet of tin rattling. Don't got no tin on board. Urk.

'Suggested"in this case meaning "blind speculation by someone without the beginnings of a clue."

A toilet.
The syphon diaphragm had split, leading to increasingly intermittent flushing.

However, because it's a Close-Coupled bog, to gain access to the bottom of the cistern ( where the locknut wot holds the syphon in place is ) requires removing the entire cistern from the bog.
This in turn requires removing the clamping screws wot do hold the cistern and pan together, which are of course rusted to buggery.
So it's dremmel time to cut the buggers off.
Then cleaning up accumulated years of disgusting eek and a great excess of Plumbers Mait putty.

Replacing the syphon unit itself is trivial.

Then an emergency visit to B+Q on account of the fact that the Close Coupled Kit ( Replacement big sealing rubber washer, and some new bolts ) I'd previously bought didn't fit.
All back together and seems to be water-tight so far!

A guinea pig house on Thursday night, in the nick of time as we picked up our 12 week old guinea pigs on saturday and they are settling in.

Also a bunch of house shaped stuff with wire, paint stripper and swearing, plus ladders.

in other news also replaced the front tyre on the commuter tank with something approaching a quantity of rubber so that I don't crash into a hedge.

Tightened K7 lock ring, whence came the vile sheet-metal rattle that rendered previous ride downright embarrassing.  Bike would be lovely & stealthy now but for bloody bell rattling.  I've got a doz of the buggers and they all rattle.
