Works for me. Hopefully the resident ultracyclist will be on hand to talk through what happened to his bike on Saturday.
An advert for sticking with single speed / fixed if I ever saw one
I'm back on gears. I hate my bike after Sunday's experience. Carlos will be pleased
No, no, no, I never want anyone to fall out of love with their bike, even if it is a daft one.
Bum sore? Legs like liquorice? What went wrong?
I finished OK. Fixed is ideal in circumstances within a normal range so a bit hilly is OK but really hilly needs gears. The same applies with the wind.
I run quite a big gear which is normally fine but 250k into a headwind on Sunday was just too much of a grind. I'm a bit more sore than I normally would be and I hurt more than after the 2 hilly 600s that I have done this year. Also the Brooks on this one is a year old and is showing no signs of breaking in. All will sort itself out in a few days but I have swapped back to the geared bike as I have a couple of days of touring and then a lumpy 1000k mid-July.
I plan to use the same fixed bike on the Grand in Sep but I might swap the gear for something smaller.
