The Pub / Re: The best of ai LLM

It isn't black and white though.

Quite a lot recycle the water.

Some redistribute it to municiple heating.
Some redistribute it to greenhouses.

Nope. What most do is they pour it over a surface with pipes running through it. That water evaporates to cool the stuff in the pipes. It goes to atmosphere. And cos it's effectively a warm moist environment you can't just pump water out the canal, else it would be a major health hazard to the techs who have to maintain it. So it comes out the tap, as treated drinking water.

At least that's the case in all the DCs k have equipment in, in multiple countries.

AI isn't actually intelligent. It's sparkling autocarrot and a massive waste of resources.

Boycott LLMs.

The Knowledge / Tyre width
« Last post by Jethro on Today at 12:13:52 pm »
What size (width) tyres do you use and why please?

I personally prefer to use 700x23mm or 700x25mm on all of my bikes but many years ago (1980's) I purchased a pair of Assos bladed time-trial wheels with 16mm wide rims.  The only suitable tyres (then) were either Wolber Record 18mm or the Soyo 35 which was 17mm.  I did all of my PB's using these wheels which were my favourite by far.

More recently I began using Vittoria Florida 19mm tyres for Audax rides of all distances up to 600k and never had a problem with them. So I just dont get it with the latest thinking of using much wider tyres now.

OT Knowledge / Re: Gabion basket wall - not vertical

Definitely a job that requires gloves.

I got through several pairs  ;)  When lacing you're limited in glove thickness by still being able to push & pull the wire where it needs to go.

Agree that having a solid base is probably important.  I spent a couple of days compacting and levelling and pretty much got down to bedrock.

As I say our neighbours' baskets were filled by chute with very little manual re-arrangement - and it shows!

One more thought, if the bearings are in plastic inserts, can you warm the frame enough to soften them without damaging the frame? Possibly shave a little off and experiment.

We haven't really bothered.

Very often, what you see with the naked eye is a vague greenish glow that moves a bit.

Photograph it, and there are dramatic pinks, purples and bright greens.

Nothing here last night, except for the glow of head- and taillights on Coombe Hill as folk tried to get somewhere dark, but instead got into and eye searing traffic jam. And there was nothing see anyway. Plenty of local photos fron Friday night though. The flights into Luton must have had a good view.

Definitely a job that requires gloves.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm very concerned that these baskets might have been installed directly on soil. The garden slopes away steeply from that point.

Will suggest to daughter that they set up a 'creep stick' or similar so they can tell if the baskets are moving.

Note to self: murder those plants before it starts raining again.

As for getting the bearings out https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=121879.msg2686230#msg2686230
Precise tools will vary as the FSA axle is wider than my Shimano one and possibly the bb is different too. You don't appear to have anywhere for a puller to push either.
