Hi Folks,
Yes I've had dreadful attendance over the past few months due to a number reasons that I won't bore the internetz with
Good to catch up with Bloomers and Si (not yet of this parish - at least I don't think he is?!) at the Compasses on Thursday evening. I must say I'd been waiting for their arrival since lunch time
Well done Joss and the team for wining the CAMRA Chelmsford and Mid-Essex branch 2012 Pub of the Year
http://www.chelmsfordcamra.org.uk/ We enjoyed his speech, nice to get so many words out of him
What with yesterdays nice weather, the summer-bike came out of retirement and was taken for a blat around the local countryside. What a ride it was, sun tanning conditions, unidentified flying insects spamming me hard on the forehead, ever evolving wind conditions and trying to remember that when out of the saddle this bike is significantly lighter than the commute bike - I've had two near-stacks from forgetting this so far
For quite some time I've been trying to complete a reasonable length ride on my own with an average speed of more than 20mp
gh and finally, yesterday, I did it. Well, 20.01mph to be exact
From the outset I intended to stop at the Compasses for a swift pint on the way home. What I hadn't noticed was on this route it's near enough spot on 20 miles* from Howe Street:
http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=368909While reviewing the Garmin after the ride and sipping on a lovely pint this got me thinking. Would this make a suitable TT with a happy-ending? Eitherway it's a route I'll be trying to improve my time on, just be nice if they could build a fly-over for the b1008 crossing
I'm not around this Wednesday but certainly hope to catch up with folk soon
